Last Saturday was a wonderful event to raise funds to help "TITANIUMSPORKESTRA" to get to Texas. Was totally a great experience. From four in the afternoon, "titaniums", "sporkettes" and musicians of the band show up and moved their bones to greet their guests. They were very organized. Some turntables here, a speaker there, a fully stocked bar and a good fire in the main courtyard. A table with three computers transmitting live stream, a merchandise stand and a photo boot.  In the back of our building we assemble an improvised fonda that perfectly served the carnitas and pozole we offered to compensate for the humid and rainy weather that accompanied us for a while, people love them. Oscar, Marisol and Luis received many compliments for his excellent work and good taste. We thank very much for your help Marisol Medrano, Luis Gervassi and Aldo Sánchez for your help, without them this would never have been possible.
And best of all, no one of those who attended this event were left frustrated by the weather, in contrast, created a warm and friendly space under our roof, where they, marching from inside the building with their music, "titanium sporkestra "made everyone dance with their constant energy, shaking our walls and our skeletons. Beautiful women, good music, good friends, and the best intentions. After midnight, the rain stopped enough so that people could enjoy going out to the patio near the fire and talk or eat, everyone seemed to have fun and even better knowing they were supporting the effort of of this band to go far. The beautiful bartender shoot many people with those guns full of whisky, the DJs made people dance, and we are just very pleased to have had host this wonderful band, we expect them to achieve their goal and wish them well in Texas, we know that will make agreat performance. Thanks to all who attended to support this local band and hope to see you again soon. Congratulations TITANIUM SPORKESTRA! continue this wonderful energy all the way down to Austin.TX

Hola, que tal?

Next Saturday January 8, 2011 will carry out the first art festival next year, as everymonth, always providing a wealth of visual delights and moments, very characteristicof this neighborhood. The weather did not stop us, the peak of winter has been setand now we prepare to receive the first event and start fast enough to be part of this avalanche of proposals, projects and fantasies.
"Even to start flying, start with your feet on earth, " said my father, and have worked hard to create the space necessary to awaken the most of our creativity and bring everything to its ultimate consequences.
Welcome creators, this is the space you wanted, and now we constantly transform to share with the passionate artists who have something to say, propose and review.
Our uniquely amazing Georgetown Trailer Park Mall includes the Comet Lodge Mercantile Trailer hosting the "Le Marche' Noir" trunk show, a collection of upcycled garments created by Parisian artist & designer Elisabeth Vedrine, and the Lula B Lightning Trailer presenting limited edition "Strange Religion" chap books by Amanda B'Hymer, among other trailer park attractions; the grand re-openng of Georgetown Yoga at 5519 Airport Way S., with arts and crafts, prizes, snacks and beverages; Heather Hudson showing her exquisite illustrations at Krab Jab Studio; illustrative art up by Julie Baroh and Mark Tedin at Calamity Jane’s; Michael Shephard's bizarre mixed media sculptures and paintings at Nautilus Studio; and, weather permitting, an outdoor spectacle of New Year cheer.

Wow, last night was really something special. Georgetown Art Attack was excellent: All City Coffee, The Mix, The Stables and others. There was lots of space for art promoted by businesses in the neighborhood. Forget the coffee and hot chocolate, the 9lb Hammer Bar was the center of the volcano - on fire.  There was a constant flow of people, art, colors, smells and sights, always with the distinctive flavor of Georgetown. Classy, trendy, punk and retro with "innovative" fashion that was much appreciated. The intention was to have a good time, welcome friends, to appreciate the talent of the participants and drink well. Last night was the celebration of the Art Jam 5, which consists of setting up a scenario/theme, (this time at the 9lb Hammer) provide space and materials and set the visual artists free to create original pieces right then and there. It was very interesting to see how each of the participants developed their ideas under the inescapable influence of the music, alcohol and supportive, enthusiastic friends cheering the artists along. The event lasted until about 2 am. The rain never stopped, people who remained to support the intuitive creative process added an edge which did not seem to diminish the high quality of the paintings. The art created in those few hours was sold immediately to the art hungry appreciators in the audience.

Art Jam 5 - five years of celebrating the creative process in Georgetown; a rare and unique event in this city. The night was very productive for us. Oscar and I struck up close ties with our neighbors and fellow art critics/patrons to open a whole world of possibilities about our project: Fonda la Catrina. Our soon to open space we’ve been pouring our efforts into has attracted many creative, engaged, progressive people who are interested in collaborating some way to ensure that our ideas come true.
Soon we will be rewarded by our efforts to project the image and identity of our culture: who we are and what we can offer our adopted community.
Fonda la Catrina will open in 2011, contributing to the fire that dominates this part of the city and generates so much creativity and life, fused with originality, the avant-garde and tenacity that has always characterizes entrepreneurs with dreams. It is a quality that Georgetown has inspired and incubated for many years. Fonda la Catrina will add our flavor to this fine mix; as distinctive and contemporary as the Mexico we love so much and want to promote.

Congratulations to all Art Jam 5 participants. Thanks for sharing your art, your vision and motivating so many people to act on their craft and collaborating together. Thank you 9lb Hammer, thanks to the organizers of Art Jam 5 and Art Attack. See you soon.
